Mushin Budo Karatedo

Mushin Budo Karatedo is a karate school located in Nanticoke, Pa. that focuses on more of a jujitsu and grappling based form of self defense. Traditional style Shotokan Karate is the basic karate syllabus of the school, but kata forms from other systems such as Goshin Jutsu, Goju Ryu, and Shito Ryu are taught as well.  The self defense techniques taught focus on a quick neutralization of the attacker followed by application of technique in a practical way very similar to Aikido.  The techniques, for the most part, are kept simple and effective and are designed to be damaging enough to prevent any formidable re-attack.  Joint locking, throwing, and close range striking also come in due to the large background of wrestling and submission techniques of the instructor.

This school was formed under the approval of Nidai Soke Matthew Durant successor to the Goshin Jutsu System of Karate.  The main idea of the school is to establish a sense of a clear uncluttered mind, free from doubt, when the need to apply a technique arises.  Being able to instantly defend without any thought process clouding the actions of the defender, relying solely on a reaction based defense.  In essence, Mushin Budo Karatedo trains individuals to shorten reaction times in stressful situations. The schools aim is to also bring back a sense of traditional karate, in an area where tournament karate is heavily found.

Iai-Jutsu and Iaido are also available at Mushin Budo Karatedo on a private basis only.  Nakamura Ryu Battodo Happo Giri / Toyama Ryo Battodo & Ryu Sei Ken Kenjitsu are the main styles taught at the school.  The school instructor, Sensei Josh Blockus, is a member of the International Battodo Shizan Association  under Soke Mitsuhiro Saruta.  Soke Saruta has been recognized as the one of the greatest swordsmen that has ever lived and he currently resides in Japan.  Sensei Blockus is also a member of Mushin Budo Iaijutsu under Nidai Soke Matthew Durant. Nidai Soke Durant is a licensed instructor of Ryu Sei Ken Kenjitsu through Soke Saruta and is currently the head of the Georgia branch.

The Jujitsu taught at the school is very wrestler orientated.  The style encompasses all the grappling experiences of the instructor and it utilizes techniques from all styles of jujitsu, Japanese and Brazilian. It is also intertwined with technique based on forms of wrestling.....Freestyle, Folkstyle, Greco Roman and Sumo.  The self defense techniques are based on small circle jujitsu defenses as well.  Kickboxing is also available for students that want to learn and for those who wish to compete in scheduled fights.

Students are trained both in body and in mind, and more of a hands on approach/ nobody left behind attitude is taken.  Everyone should be given the chance to learn how to protect themselves... especially children.  This school focuses on sharp kata training, crushing jujitsu techniques, and quick defense that even children can do to stop an attack.  The first two classes are free of charge. Children and adults of all ages are welcome to come down and enjoy the traditional style karate that's fun and beneficial to anyone regardless of skill level.

Come and join our school and be a part of our Jujitsu team, Python Jujitsu. Up and coming fights will also be available for Jujitsu and amateur MMA.  So.... stop in and check us out.
